Plurals

1 banana, 2 _______?






We need plurals when we are talking about more than one thing.

Can you remember what a vowel and a consonant is?

Before you begin, take out your English copy and write the title "Plurals" and today's date.

Write out each rule and do the examples as you read!

1. Most nouns= JUST ADD S
eg 1 cat, many cats

2.  If the word ends in a VOWEL + Y = ADD S
eg 1 boy, many boys

3. If the noun ends in a:
CONSONANT+ Y= DROP THE Y & ADD IES

eg 1 lady, 2 ladies

  4. Nouns ending with:
 -ch, -sh, -ss, -x or -es ADD ES

eg 1 church,  many churches
     1 bush, many bushes
     1 glass, many glasses

5. Many nouns ending in -f or -fe, CHANGE THIS TO A "V" AND ADD ES
